ROOM 1 years exp required Schedule Notes: 12 weeks/40 hr/wk; 4 - 10
hr shifts – day off varies 1100-2130 with 2 weekend shifts (24hrs)
every 6 weeks Education Requirements Graduate of an accredited
school or college of nursing – Required BSN – Highly desired;
required within five (5) years of hire for applicable positions RN
licensure in South Carolina or a compact/multi-state license
recognized by the NCSBN – Required Must hold a current American
Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card – Required Note:
RN teammates transferring within the same department are not
required to complete a BSN within five years. RN teammates
transferring to a different department must complete BSN within
five years. Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Summary: To provide
nursing care for patients following established standards and
practices in accordance with the South Carolina Nurse Practice Act.
Apply professional nursing theory and practice to assess, plan,
implement, and evaluate patient care. Contacts: Constant
interaction with internal and external customers, including (but
not limited to) patients, families, physicians, employees, and
visitors. Job Duties and Responsibilities Responsibility
Description % of Time 1 Perform patient assessments reflecting
physical, psychological, socio-cultural, spiritual, cognitive needs
and functional abilities through the systematic collection and
review of patient-specific data. Communicate assessments
appropriately. 20% 2 Plan and prioritize care based on assessments.
Evaluate patient progress and revise care to attain expected
outcomes. Involve patient/family in planning care and evaluating
programs and outcomes. 20% 3 Demonstrate clinical competencies in
specific areas of practice as described in departmental performance
standards. 10% 4 Assess patient/family learning needs, plan and
provide education (involving other disciplines as needed), and
evaluate the effectiveness of teaching in achieving desired
outcomes. 10% 5 Identify and respond appropriately to ethical
issues in patient care. Provide nursing care in a non-judgmental
manner that respects patient diversity and acknowledges patient
rights. Serve as a resource to others in addressing ethical
dilemmas in patient care. 10% 6 Initiate collaborative dialogue
with physicians and coordinate multidisciplinary activities to
plan, deliver, and evaluate patient care. 10% 7 Act as a patient
advocate. 10% 8 Provide nursing care that respects patient
diversity and acknowledges patient rights. Identify resources to
meet unique patient needs. Ensure compliance with regulatory
requirements, core measures, patient safety, and quality
initiatives to achieve optimal clinical and organizational
outcomes. 10% — Perform other duties and responsibilities as
required. — Skills and Qualifications Knowledge/Skills: Proficient
in both scrubbing and circulating – Required Knowledge of
professional nursing theory and practice Understanding of
organizational policies and procedures for patient care Awareness
of safety hazards and precautions in a healthcare setting Ability
to apply and modify nursing techniques for ongoing patient care
Problem-solving and solution-oriented approach Strong recordkeeping
and reporting skills Ability to maintain effective relationships
with patients, staff, and public Critical thinking and calm
response in emergencies Clear, professional communication skills
Work Environment and Physical Demands Frequent: standing, walking,
bending, crouching, stooping, lifting/moving patients Intermittent:
lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs Frequent hand/finger dexterity
and reaching Frequent talking and hearing; corrected vision/hearing
to normal range Exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious
materials, and communicable diseases Moderate noise levels Work may
involve stress, deadlines, and irregular hours On-call, weekend,
and holiday shifts may be required depending on departmental needs
