Job Description Summary This is a part-time temporary position
as a clinical instructor needed for Summer 2026 in support of our
undergraduate program clinical courses. The candidate must have
demonstrated nursing clinical expertise related to care of adult
populations with health alterations. The candidate is expected to
provide leadership in teaching clinical nursing through mentoring,
guiding and remediating student clinical and simulation

Hours 1.2 Work Shift Job Description Minimum Qualifications: Earned
Master’s degree in nursing is preferred; bachelor’s degree may be
considered with demonstrated clinical expertise. Relevant
experience and expertise in comprehensive nursing care for adult
populations in the respective specialty area/unit where the
clinical instruction will occur in accordance with accrediting body
and board of nursing requirements. Effective interpersonal
communication. Unencumbered, active license as a registered nurse
in South Carolina. Current Basic Life Support certification through
American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or the Military
Training Network. Recent (2-3 years) experience of actual patient
care and/or supervision of students in clinical settings. Preferred
Qualifications: Experience teaching clinical nursing skills,
clinical judgment, critical thinking, and therapeutic communication
skills; and experience using a learning management system. Formal
Accountability: Reports to the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate
Programs. Responsibilities: a. Teaching, supervision, and mentoring
of ABSN students in hospital settings in which nursing care is
provided. b. Teaching, supervising, and evaluating students in
simulation settings at the College of Nursing (CON) and MUSC
simulation laboratories. c. Implementing innovative teaching
strategies to foster student development of clinical practice,
clinical judgement, and critical thinking competencies. d.
Coordinating weekly pre- and post- conferences lessons to align
with and reinforce didactic content. e. Serve as a role model for:
the role of the nurse as a member of the healthcare team;
compassionate communication with patients and families;
professional behavior; professional appearance; effective
interpersonal and interdisciplinary communication; and lifelong
learning. f. Providing constructive, substantive, and supportive
feedback to students weekly, mid-term, and final student
evaluations and submitting these to the course coordinator g.
Communicating student progression issues/concerns as they arise
with the course coordinator h. Grading clinical paperwork i.
Attending course and program meetings j. Adhering to MUSC and

level, unassisted. (Infrequent) Ability to push/pull objects, up to
15 lbs., unassisted. (Infrequent) Ability to maintain 20/40 vision,
corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to
see and recognize objects close at hand. (Frequent) Ability to see
and recognize objects at a distance. (Frequent) Ability to
determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception.
(Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous)
